Castle gate town:
The Castle Gate Town is a world class cowboy action shooting facility,
that is open to the public.
There are 15 shooting bays with building and props reminiscent of an old
west town. There are over 200 steel
targets of various sizes and shapes for pistol caliber and .22 long rifle
weapons, from three to 50 yards.
Just to the east of the castle gate town is �buffalo canyon�, a long
range
shooting venue with steel targets set up from 25 to 400 yards and a three foot
�steel buffalo� at 775 yards. �Buck�s Place� is the cabin at the castle gate
town consisting of a kitchen/meeting area, running water rest rooms and a
pavilion with a capacity of up 100 persons.
In the commons area there are three pavilions for additional seating.
The castle gate town is the ideal venue for family parties, meetings,
trainings, or just a day away. The
local cowboy action shooting club, the
Castle
Gate Posse, holds shooting matches
at the castle gate town, on the fourth Saturday of each month.
The castle gate posse hosted
the 2008 Utah black powder state championship, for cowboy action shooting, and
will be hosting this shoot as again, well as, the Utah cowboy action shooting
state championship in 2009, all at the castle gate town.

Law enforcement:
The law enforcement venue consists of an enclosed shooting area with
radiant heaters, designed for pistol, rifle and shot gun use.
There are target lines at 25, 50, and 100 yards with turning targets,
rising targets, running-man targets, a �bobber� range, falling plates and
dueling trees. There is also the
live fire �hot house� with three separate rooms and furniture.
The targeting system is operated with air pneumatics and requires an
operator to run the target system.
The law enforcement venue is only open to the public on a limited
basis. |
Archery: there are four separate archery venues.
First the sight-in/practice range, consisting of 4� x 4� block targets at
20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 yards, for sighting in and practice with a �steel deer� at
the 40 yard target for an extra challenge, and excelsior bale targets at 70, 80,
and 90 yards. Second, there is an
excelsior bale, field range with 28
targets going through a wash and a sage brush flats, with targets from five to
80 yards. And finally the two 3-D
ranges. First, the flat range, consisting of up to 50 Rinehart 3-D targets with
mule deer, white tail deer, elk, turkeys and dinosaurs, from three to 50 yards,
and second 3-D �challenge� course with up to 25 Rinehart 3-D targets, which goes
through gullies, washes, hill sides and vegetation.
The flat range is for all skill levels with the challenge course being
designed for the more advanced archer.
No broad heads are allowed at any of the archery ranges, field point
only. |

Trap range: the
trap range consists of a single, electric trap thrower with a 50 bird capacity.
The trap thrower has the ability to �wobble� up and down, and left to right 45
degrees, and is activated with a remote button or foot pedal.
There are five concrete shooting stations at 16 yards.

Pistol venue at the 100 yard range:
at the 100 yard range, there are 12 separate, pistol shooting bays under
a covered canopy, with a retrieving target system.
Six of the bays go out to 80 feet and the other six go out to 100 feet.
There is also a �Steel challenge� range with a variety of steel targets
including falling plates and dueling trees.
The targets are from three to 50 yards and are for pistol caliber and .22
long rifle weapons only. |

Long range: 1000 yard, 600 yard and 100 yard ranges.
There is an enclosed
shooting area at the 1000 and 600 yard ranges with radiant heaters.
There are hard backers at 100 yards, 600 yards and 1000 yards, with
portable target stands that can be set at any distance between 0 and 1000 yards.
On the 1000 yard range there is an 8� X 8� steel plate at 1000 yards, 6�
X 6� steel plates at 900 and 800 yards, 4� x 4� steel plates at 700 and 600
yards. On the 600 yard range there
are steel silhouettes, chickens at 200 yards, pigs at 300 yards, turkeys at 385
yards and rams at 500 yards. There
are 18� �steel gongs� at the 200 through 900 yard lines.
.50 caliber rifles are welcome on the 1000 yard range.
Golf carts are provided for transportation to and from the targets. |

The campgrounds:
the campgrounds will hold up to 115 units, and is currently for dry
camping only, as the range is unable to provide water or electricity at this
time, however, there is an r.v. dump on site for the convenience of the campers.

The main cabin:
consists of the rangemaster�s residence, the lobby, with animal mounts on
loan from various local sportsmen, as well as free booklets and magazines for
the shooting enthusiast. The main
cabin also has the �pro-shop�, stocked with targets, portable backers, staplers,
ear and eye protection, �lead sleds�, spotting scopes and hats with the north
springs logo. Additionally, the main
cabin has available class/meeting rooms with the capacity of up 40 persons.
The class/meeting rooms are also used for concealed weapons classes, held
approximately once a month.
